Singing Hymns

There is an awful lot going on in Lent that I hope will refresh and renew our collective commitment to the Church and feed our own spiritual lives as we move along on our Christian pilgramage.

The Lenten Sudy Group was “Sold Out” even before it was advertised, so sorry to any who may feel a tad disappointed – more to come – so don’t feel you have been left out.

Confirmation preparation begins this month and I would invite anyone who would like to have a “Confirmation Refresher” to just turn up.

An exciting new idea is gathering pace – the idea is to have a favourite hymn competition and then sing them at the 10.15 Communion Service – probably on Trinity Sunday in lieu of Creed, Intercessions, etc. that we normally have. Be assured that the Creed will be said at 8am service and hymns are nothing other than prayers and devotions set to music. I would not want people to think it was “Entertainment Sunday”. It will give people also a chance to say why a hymn is a favourite and what it means to them as a Christian. So watch this space!

Nick Bebb is now approaching his last few months in training for Readership and I would encourage you to hold him in your prayers, and Richard Moffatt is steadily progressing for selection as an OLM – this is all very exciting.

There are also a number of Church Socials taking place which will be great fun – please support these and invite others to come along.

I do hope that Lent is a good and productive time for everyone connected with this Church and in the midst of our busy days it will b a period when we feel something of the peace of Christ in our lives.

Every Blessing,

The Vicar
