Many months ago the Vicar and PCC prepared for the events that we have just experienced.
A framed photograph of Elizabeth II was sent from Julian Calder who has taken many photographs of her and was placed in the Sanctuary, the cushioned Royal Cipher and the Union Flag had black mourning bands attached to them and the Paschal Candle remained lit every day. At the bottom the words “Jesus said, I am the Light of the world” are carved into it and reminds us of the Faith into which the late Queen was baptised and which was firmly at the centre of her life.
Andrew Luxton assisted the Vicar as he raised the Union Flag on Proclamation Day at 11.00 am and took it to half mast at precisely 7.26 pm.
