Today was truly wonderful! At last, those who were able to made their way to St Anne’s to worship God, say their prayers and receive the Sacrament after an absence of so many weeks. Mindful of guidance everything had been prepared and all was in its correct place. It was an absolute delight to see so many familiar faces of all ages in Church across the services that ran from 8.00 am to 12.00 noon.
Harry Bearn played the setting for Jesus Christ is Risen Today as the Cross was processed in from the west end. The Collect and Propers for Easter Day were read and the Eucharistic Cope used at Easter was worn. During the administration of Holy Communion from the nave steps the organist played Be Still for the Presence of the Lord and I the Lord of Sea and Sky. Thine Be the Glory was chosen for the recessional.
As you all know that the spiritual life of this parish has never ceased during recent weeks. However, it was lovely to be a worshipping community again within the four walls of our holy place. The Sunday School “Zoomed” together again during the morning – let’s hope we can soon get the Hall accessible soon. Thank you to the teachers who have overseen what they are doing.
I must also thank all those involved in making this confident return to Church; particularly Rowena Jackson and members of the Risk Assessment group and the Nominated Church Officers under the never flagging commitment of our never failing Churchwarden, Gillian Leach.
We bat on. Keep an eye on the service times and arrangements and Keep the Faith
With every blessing
The Vicar
