If you weren’t there, you missed a treat!
A small congregation sat in church on a warm Sunday afternoon, listening to a series of readings and choral items, assembled to remind everyone of the story of Jesus’ passion.

The readers were Isobel Hinchliffe, Chris Jupp, Richard Moffatt and Bridget Park with the Vicar and Revd. Martyn Hill. The choir, conducted by Alan Beedie, sang two pieces new to St Anne’s by the French composer Faure, as well as three familiar ones. They were joined by the congregation for the Passiontide hymns. The organ was played by Harry Bearn, assisted by Organ Scholar Henry Hinchliffe.

The atmosphere gave important time for reflection, and the Vicar was so deep in thought for a moment, that he had to be reminded to announce the next hymn. Altogether an emotional experience and although it doesn’t sound quite right, also enjoyable.
