On the evening of Tuesday, June 17th, the Mothers’ Union held a walk and supper.

Led by Jean Crabtree, the group of sixteen met outside church and had a photograph taken by Marion before setting off.
Going down the churchyard steps to Royds Street and on towards the lines, we walked towards Greenmount to Shepherd Street, turning past Tower Farm and past the Wild Bird Sanctuary.

The route continued through the ‘Old Mill’ to the new Housing estate in Kirklees valley. There we rejoined the lines back towards Tottington, crossing the park to Mrs. Crump’s restaurant ‘Next Door’.

Here the rest of the ladies were waiting and a delicious meal was ready for us, as well as a special drink, to celebrate Brenda Ware’s birthday.

‘A good time was had by all!’

Thanks were given to all who had made the evening possible – Elsie for organising it, Jean for planning and leading the walk and Mrs. Crump and helpers for preparing and serving the meal.
